How the rankings work
U.S. News released its 2027 Best Elementary and Middle Schools rankings Oct. 20. The publication evaluated about 46,000 public elementary schools nationwide, according to its announcement.
The rankings consider student reading and math achievement, including proficiency and performance measures that account for student backgrounds.
Green Ridge's U.S. News profile uses state assessment data from the 2023-24 school year. Other school information comes from federal education datasets, including the 2025 Common Core of Data and the 2023-24 Civil Rights Data Collection.
The rankings reflect the school's performance in those earlier assessment periods rather than current-year test results.
