Cumberland County voters who requested mail-in or absentee ballots have until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 3, to return them to the county Bureau of Elections. Ballots must be received by the deadline; postmarks do not count, according to the county's election deadlines website.
The bureau issued a deadline reminder on Oct. 28, less than a week before Election Day. The reminder said ballots can be mailed or hand-delivered to the elections office at 1601 Ritner Highway, Suite 201, in Carlisle.
The deadline applies to civilian voters across Cumberland County, including those in Mechanicsburg Borough, Hampden Township, Silver Spring Township and Upper Allen Township.
The deadline to request a mail-in or absentee ballot was Tuesday, Oct. 27, according to the Pennsylvania Department of State. The application deadline has passed, although the department says voters with qualifying emergencies may still be eligible to request an emergency absentee ballot.
The county's deadline for receiving military and overseas absentee ballots is Nov. 10. According to the Bureau of Elections, those ballots must have been submitted for delivery no later than 11:59 p.m. on Nov. 2.
Polling places will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day, according to the county Bureau of Elections. The bureau's office will also be open during those hours.
Voters with questions about returning their ballots can contact the bureau at 717-240-6385.
