Democrat Sara Agerton won Pennsylvania's 88th state House District on Tuesday, Nov. 3, flipping a Republican-held seat representing Mechanicsburg, Hampden Township and nearby Cumberland County communities.
Agerton received 56.8% of the vote against Republican Jeff Clark's 43.2%, according to Decision Desk HQ's unofficial results. Agerton received 17,338 votes to Clark's 13,164.
The seat had been held by Republican Rep. Sheryl Delozier, who announced her retirement earlier this year. Delozier first won election to the district in 2008.
The 88th District includes Mechanicsburg, New Cumberland and Shiremanstown boroughs, Hampden Township and parts of Lower Allen Township, according to PoliticsPA's district profile.
Agerton had previously challenged Delozier in 2022 and 2024. Her victory came in her third campaign for the seat.
Clark won the Republican primary over Savannah Martin, who had received support from established Republican figures in the region. The primary result made Clark the Republican nominee for the open seat.
The district had become increasingly competitive in recent elections. President Donald Trump carried it by less than one percentage point in 2024, according to Decision Desk HQ's district election comparisons.
Gleim holds 199th District
Republican Rep. Barb Gleim retained her 199th House District seat, which includes Carlisle-area communities, in a closer contest against Democrat TaWanda Hunter Stallworth.
Gleim received 52.7% of the vote to Stallworth's 47.3%, according to Ballotpedia's unofficial election results.
Gleim received 13,954 votes, while Stallworth received 12,502.
The result marked a narrower victory than Gleim's previous reelection campaign. Gleim won the district by a substantially larger margin in 2024.
Rothman wins 34th Senate District
Republican state Sen. Greg Rothman defeated Democrat Nathan Wood in Pennsylvania's 34th Senate District, which includes Hampden and Silver Spring townships.
Rothman received approximately 57% of the vote, while Wood received 43%, according to ABC6's Pennsylvania election results.
The outcome followed an election-night count that had initially shown a closer contest while ballots were still being tabulated.
Wood, a former Rothman district office manager, challenged the incumbent on issues including data center development and tax policy.
Rothman has served in the Pennsylvania Senate since 2022. His reelection preserves Republican representation in the 34th District.
Upper Allen rejects land-preservation tax
Upper Allen Township residents voted against a proposal to increase earned income and real estate taxes to support land preservation.
The measure received 3,401 votes in favor and 7,120 against, according to Ballotpedia's unofficial results.
The proposal would have authorized additional revenue for acquiring open space, conservation easements, recreation lands and development rights.
About 67.7% of voters opposed the measure, preventing the proposed tax increases from taking effect.
All election results remain unofficial pending certification by Cumberland County and the applicable state election authorities.
